Morris Lare Interiors is seeking a creative, energetic, collaborative Junior Designer with residential design experience to join our growing team! This role is full-time and will require the ability to travel.
We are searching for a candidate who is highly organized, has superb attention to detail, who can creatively problem-solve, and is eager to learn and contribute to the design-process within a boutique studio environment. This person possesses the ability to multitask, prioritize and balance their workload, and keep composure under stress. They are adaptable, service-oriented, collaborative and demonstrate a positive attitude.
The junior designer will assist the Principal Designers and Senior Designer in completing multiple and varied FF&E projects..
Candidate must have strong communication skills for engaging with clients, vendors, showrooms, and a growing team. Ability to adapt and thrive in an ever-changing business environment is crucial. We are looking for a candidate with a passion for life-long learning who is excited to grow in the design field within a boutique studio setting!

The Junior Designer is an in-person studio position with some flexibility to work from home two days per week. Morris Lare’s studio is located in the vibrant Valley Junction neighborhood – the original downtown area of West Des Moines – and is home to many restaurants, coffee shops, and boutiques.
Salary begins at $40,000 and is commensurate with experience. We offer quarterly commission-based bonuses, as well as a 401K plan with employer contributions.

The senior designer will be working alongside the Principal Designers of Morris Lare Interiors to lead multiple and varied FF&E projects, with the assistance of junior members of the team.

Together with the Principal Designer, the Senior Designer will:
Lead the creative and conceptual stages of assigned projects.
Inspire the design team, bringing new ideas and original design concepts.
Design and develop beautiful custom cabinetry and furniture, including case goods & upholstery.
Present Design Concepts and Design Solutions with ability to speak to the “why” behind the choice with an expert voice.
Manage & check for accuracy of information produced by consultants, sub-contractors and suppliers.
Coordinate and oversee the project’s technical documentation & detailed specifications, ensuring comments and revisions are always up to date.
Support the leadership team in producing detailed project timelines with internal milestones. Provide regular updates to the Principals on project progress, while keeping detailed track of time spent on project in relation to project progress.
Respond effectively to complex questions and troubleshoot problems, while working between various projects.
Forecast, identify, and communicate risks and bring ideas and solutions to the table with strategic thinking & a spirit of problem solving.
Endurance, enthusiasm and a high level of client care from start to finish of multi-year projects.
Lead communication with build teams across various projects to bring Morris Lare’s Designs into reality.
Contribute to setting the internal design standards and guidelines, ensuring they are implemented by the entire team.
Monitor the project team’s output, report back to the Principal Designer in a constructive manner, highlighting highs and lows.
Mentorship to junior team members, providing help and guidance on Morris Lare’s internal methods, processes and procedures.
Drive and desire to work towards improving Morris Lare’s efficiencies and our team’s work experience, growth and culture with collaboration and a spirit of service & joy.
